You always have a choice. The choices may not always thrill you, but they are there, none-the-less. You are not, however, free from the consequences of your choices, and this may have some bearing on what you choose. For instance, you have the choice to punch you boss in the nose, but you may decide that the consequence of losing your job or being charged with assault, or both, is not in your best interest. You don’t always get to choose what happens, but you do always get to decide how you respond to what happens. Make your choices wisely.
