Think before you speak
This is something that many of our mothers tried to teach us when we were growing up, and it is still, and always, applicable. Is it important to say what you are going to say? Will it be understood in the manner that you mean it to be understood? Will it get you a laugh, but at someone else’s expense? Sometimes it is important to say things that you know others aren’t going to like; sometimes there is no good reason to cause others the embarrassment, pain, or discomfort of your words. Remember what your mom said; think before you speak.
